สำนักข่าวซีเอ็นเอ็น – เผยผลสำรวจดัชนีจุดหมายปลายทางของนักท่องเที่ยวทั่วโลกประจำปี 2017 (2017 Global Destination Cities Index) โดยมาสเตอร์การ์ด โดยยกให้ “กรุงเทพมหานคร” เป็นเมืองที่นักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาตินิยมมาท่องเที่ยวที่สุดในโลกประจำปีนี้ โดยในปีที่ผ่านมา มีนักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติเข้ามาท่องเที่ยวถึง 19.41 ล้านคน พร้อมคาดว่าปี 2560 จะมีนักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติ 20.19 ล้านคนเข้ามาเยือนไทย

จากการจัดอันดับยังชี้ว่า กรุงเทพฯเป็นเมืองที่นักท่องเที่ยวมาเที่ยวมากที่สุดในโลกติดกัน 2 ปีซ้อน โดยกรุงเทพสามารถแซงหน้าเป็นอันดับ 1 จากทั้งหมด 132 เมืองทั่วโลก ส่วนเมืองที่รองลงมาคือกรุงลอนดอน ของอังกฤษ จำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวเมื่อปี 2559 อยู่ที่ 19.06 ล้านคน อันดับที่ 3 ถือกรุงปารีส ของฝรั่งเศส มีนักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติเดินทางไปท่องเที่ยวเมื่อปี 2559 จำนวน 15.45 ล้านคน

 

 

 

อันดับที่ 4 คือดูไบ อันดับ 5 สิงคโปร์ อันดับ 6 นครนิวยอร์ก ประเทศสหรัฐฯ อันดับ 7 กรุงโซล เกาหลีใต้ อันดับ 8 กัวลาลัมเปอร์ ประเทศมาเลเซีย อันดับ 9 กรุงโตเกียว ประเทศญี่ปุ่น และอันดับ 10 นครอิสตันบูล ประเทศตุรกี

จากการสำรวจยังพบอีกว่า เมืองที่มีอัตราการเติบโตนักท่องที่ยวมากสุดในโลกตั้งแต่ปี 2009-2017 ได้แก่ เมืองโอซากา ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ที่มีอัตราการเติบโตของนักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติถึง 24% ตามด้วยเมืองเฉิงตู มณฑลเสฉวน ประเทศจีน เติบโตที่ 22.7%
