เมื่อเวลา 14.40 น. วันที่ 25 ก.ย. ที่ทำเนียบรัฐบาล พล.อ.ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรีและหัวหน้าคณะรักษาความสงบแห่งชาติ (คสช.) ให้สัมภาษณ์ถึงมติคณะรัฐมนตรี วันที่ 26 ก.ย. เกี่ยวกับการจัดงานพระราชพิธีถวายพระเพลิงพระบรมศพ พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพล อดุลยเดช ว่า ทุกคนทราบดีแล้วว่าในวันพุธที่ 25 ต.ค. จะมีพระราชพิธีออกพระเมรุมาศ ในวันพฤหัสที่ 26 ต.ค. จะมีพิธีอัญเชิญพระบรมโกศ เวียนรอบพระเมรุมาศ ถวายพระเพลิงในเวลา 16.30 น. และ เวลา 22.00 น. อีกครั้ง

ในวันศุกร์ที่ 27 ต.ค. เวลา 08.00 น. จะมีพระราชพิธีเก็บพระบรมอัฐิ เวลา 09.00 น. พระราชพิธีเชิญพระบรมอัฐิเข้าสู่พระบรมมหาราชวัง ในวันเสาร์ที่ 28 ต.ค. มีการออกทุกข์ เวลา 17.30 น. มีพระราชพิธีบำเพ็ญพระราชกุศล วันอาทิตย์ที่ 29 ต.ค. เวลา 10.30 น. พระราชพิธีเชิญพระบรมอัฐิขึ้นสู่พระวิมาน เวลา 17.30 น. พระราชพิธีเชิญไปยังวัดราชบพิธสถิตมหาสีมาราม กับวัดบวรนิเวศราชวรวิหารในส่วนที่เป็นเถ้าสรีรังคาร

 


พล.อ.ประยุทธ์ กล่าวว่า เนื่องจากมีการครบรอบ 1 ปี การไว้ทุกข์ เมื่อวันที่ 13 ต.ค. ในส่วนของข้าราชการ มติครม. วันเดียวกันนี้ จึงให้มีการเพิ่มการไว้ทุกข์จากเดิมที่มีถึงวันที่ 13 ต.ค. ขยายไปถึงวันที่ 27 ต.ค. เพื่อให้จบงานพระราชพิธีฯ ไปก่อน ในวันที่ 28 ต.ค. ก็ถือเป็นวันออกทุกข์ จะต้องมีการเก็บผ้า ป้ายขาวดำทั้งหมดตามที่สาธารณะและสถานที่ราชการทั้งหมด ภายในวันที่ 28 ต.ค. ทั้งนี้มติครม. ให้มีการลดธงครึ่งเสาตั้งแต่วันที่ 13-27 ต.ค. เป็นจำนวน 15 วัน พร้อมยืนยันว่าวันหยุดราชการมีเพียง 1 วันเท่านั้น คือวันที่ 26 ต.ค. ในส่วนการจัดรายการของสถานีวิทยุ โทรทัศน์ นั้น ที่เป็นรายการบันเทิงต่าง ๆ ขอความร่วมมือตลอดเดือนต.ค. 2560 รวมทั้งขอเชิญชวนประชาชน พ่อค้า นักธุรกิจ ข้าราชการ ร่วมกันทำหน้าที่จิตอาสาเฉพาะกิจในงานพระราชพิธีดังกล่าว
